  Painting to me is a mental state, a process, which at is best, comes

from unknown resembling a state of flow, or a trance. When I´m

painting there´s no worries beyond the canvas, no everyday life; just

images waiting to be born, and relations of elements, colors and

texture on the canvas. I´m interested in contrasts in surface and in

content. Contrast may be seen as smooth against rough surface, in

brushwork or between light and dark. Constantly I search for aesthetic

inspiration from everywhere, but mostly from the artwork of past

generations.    Being "on the edge", or making statements with my art,

is not that relevant to me. I see my paintings as relatives of a poem,

or a dream. To me, even if my paintings are for the most part

representional,  there doesn´t have to be an obvious story, even a

subject, or an hidden meaning to be found. It´s enough that the

picture just is: an object with no screaming message but a hint, like

a whisper that someone might hear, and another, not. My goal, I

suppose, is to reflect something that is close to a mystical

experience. Feeling, a mood, is essential in my opinion. What I

personally value in art, still has something to do with the good old

do-not-speak-of -beauty. There should be room in modern art, for art

that is attempting to be something other than an intellectual

challenge, or a bold statement.  To me, mixing traditional with

"modern", representional with abstract, offers a field where I feel

most at home.
